E7: Willard's Wisdom for Leaders: Relaxed Amidst Chaos
God Is With You in the Middle of It
In Episode 7 of Willard’s Wisdom for Leaders, I play a short clip from John Ortberg sharing a story about Dallas Willard arriving late to speak at a conference, yet fully present, rested, and full of joy.
Leadership often brings circumstances we cannot control. But Willard’s example reminds us that peace is not found in managing outcomes, but in trusting God’s presence.
Grounded in John 14:27, this reflection considers what it looks like for leaders to step into that reality and lead with steadiness, clarity, and peace.
May your leadership be a blessing today.

‘God Is With You In the Middle of It’
Made me instantly think of the Babylonian captivity time period in the book of Daniel. From large scale life issues to small scale inconveniences, when they happen they give us a sense of bondage…. ‘I did not choose this’( which is what can or does feel so disturbing).
The adventures with Jesus is He loves to be our hero. Sometimes due to other people’s free will it might not be time for Him to be the hero of our circumstance… but…. He can be the hero of our soul for that situation and rescue us from our mental despair about it. Just when we think we are “ on fire “ and can’t take anymore, He shows up, and we walk right out. Just as Daniel 3:24-25 reveals regarding how Jesus operates:
24 Astonished, King Nebuchadnezzar stood up in terror, and asked his advisors, “Didn’t we throw three men into the fire, bound firmly with ropes?”
In reply they told the king, “Yes, your majesty.”
25 “Look!” he told them,[a] “I see four men walking untied and unharmed in the middle of the fire, and the appearance of the fourth resembles a divine being.”[b]
